Dating in Zurich, from the lake to the old town

Old town and Lindenhof

Zurich’s old town (Altstadt) is split between two banks: the Lindenhof, a quiet hill planted with lime trees and the cradle of the Roman city, and Niederdorf on the other side of the Limmat, with its medieval lanes and terraces. People meet at the stairway up to the Lindenhof to admire the view over roofs and bell towers, before heading down to a café for a soft, typically Zurich pause.

Grossmünster and Fraumünster

Facing each other across the Limmat, the Grossmünster with its iconic twin towers and the Fraumünster with its stained-glass windows designed by Marc Chagall answer one another. A combined ticket makes for a real cultural walk. People happily climb the Karl Tower of the Grossmünster for a full view of the city, the lake and the Bernese Alps. A shared moment that makes you want to extend the conversation on the nearby terrace.

Bahnhofstrasse and Lake Zurich

The Bahnhofstrasse, the city’s main shopping avenue, runs straight from the central station to the lakeshore, past luxury brands and department stores. At its end, Bürkliplatz opens onto Quai Alfred-Escher and the first cruise boats. On Lyad, Zurich members share their favourite lake beaches; it is up to you to find someone to try the next Zürisee-Schiff crossing with.
